Massage for Relaxation
Whether you're tight and stiff from being stuck in front of a screen
all day, in pain after sleeping awkwardly, or feeling the after effects of
a particularly strenuous gym session,
Massage is one of the most effective treatments there is.
It releases deep restrictions in the muscles, tendons and ligaments; helping to remove tension, ease pain and free up restricted movements.
I'll always sit down for a consultation with you first so that the treatment can be tailored exactly to you.
You might want a very gentle, soothing massage, or you might want something a little bit firmer or more invigorating.
You might have problem areas you'd like to focus on.
There might be some aspects of the treatment you're not sure about, or not keen on.
Or you might have a medical condition that means we need to make a few adjustments.
That's all absolutely fine - it's your massage! So make sure you tell me exactly what you'd prefer.
I'll use a combination of different techniques to ease away your aches and pains and get to the bottom of troublesome areas.
This will often be a mix of slow, long, deep stroke, targeted pressure on knotted muscles, and some stretches
to help release tight or stiff joints.
I'll often be using a forearm, fist or elbow, rather than just the hands, to give just the right amount of pressure.
The aim is always to work within your comfort zone to get you completely relaxed and pain free - tight areas can sometimes be a bit sore, but please don't feel you have to grit your teeth if its's a bit much!
As always, it's all about you and your preferences, and the most effective way of releasing tension and easing pain is to make you comfortable!
As with any treatment, it's often worthwhile to have a two or three sessions reasonably close together to deal with existing, stubborn problems, and then regular treatments can help prevent them from coming back.
But, clients report feeling, looser, taller, pain free, and extremely relaxed after even just a one-off massage.
Massage is brilliant for easing stress, and encouraging you to relax.
It can improve your circulation, increasing blood flow and flushing waste products, which aids healing and helps you to feel generally more alert, improving your general wellbeing.
Regular massage will improve your flexibility and help you to move more easily.
